"That Night" I felt something all over. It was like a tremor. The earth quake that moves. A heart could melt away. You held my hand along the walk. We laughed and played. I felt something move. The waters rushed below us. Your arms encircled me. My hand touched yours. That smile grew wider. I felt something quiver. The night blanket wrapped around us. Your smile so sweet and pure. My laugh soft and kind. I felt something that night. The night drew to an end. Your arm encircled me once again. Your lips touched mine so briefly. I felt something that night. You left me with a smile. by Wild Iris -- See her poetry Each one of us has one of those nights that we reserve in our memory as perfect. For Marty and I, it was in 1988 -- Virginia Beach, Virginia. We ate supper at Orion's (I decided to go there because it's the name of my favorite constellation). Then, we strolled along the beach, and did what people do when they stroll, and we got some of those old-fashioned pictures taken. It was just the two of us; the rest of the world could have melted away for all we cared. Thank you, Wild Iris, for bringing back that memory. Back to Heartthrob |
