00:37 a.m.
Dear log,
the last two days have probably been the worst of my life so far.
As you know Eva had an operation on April 2nd (which is also Shawn's
Birthday - coincidence? I sent her a card by the way) and I was with her from
the morning, I woke up around 6:20 a.m. and got to the hospital at 7:15 a.m.
She got there with her parents and we waited in line, after a few mix-ups (we
didn't know exactly where to wait) we found the right place and waited for
Eva's turn for the operation. We waited until 10:30. The rotten part about
the waiting is that while you are waiting for the operation the patients who
finish the operation come out to same room, and you can here them recovering
from it which is not pretty. It really stressed us. The woman who came out
had the exact same operation Eva had to do, she was connected to an
oxygen device and was connected to many wires, she was naked underneath a ton
of blankets and she was still freezing. The blips from the devices where
really horrible too. They asked her to remove all her clothes and wear a
hospital gown, she did, she tried to keep her bra but they told her to take
it off too, she later said that before they put her to sleep the doctors didn't
take the entire cloak off as they tied her (yes tied her) to the chair where
the operation should be performed. I went to a mini mall to buy her some
chocolates, and came back, she was in the operating room for around an hour
(other women were in there for 30 minutes) she then came out and her mother
saw her first for the first couple of minutes, I was waiting and going crazy,
I didn't know how she was or what was happening with her, I waited like mad
for some sort of signal for me to come. At last a nurse came searching and
asked who was The_anonym, no need to say I went to Eva's bed as quick as I
could. I then saw the probably most shocking picture I have ever seen so far
in my life, Eva was lying on the bed, on her where tons of blankets, she
was trying to talk, she asked what the time was, it was 11:45 but she didn't
get that, she was wearing an oxygen mask and she was shaking like crazy, I
never saw anyone shake like that before in my life, she was cold as ice. She
took my hand and tried to take off the mask (later on she told me it didn't let
her breath well), I told her not to take the mask off, she was still shaking,
she was trying to say something but she was too shaking to say it, she opened
her eyes a bit, but that was earlier, she looked like she was in great pain,
and I believe she was, she kept saying something, I believe it was "I'm cold",
the nurse came to kick me out just then, so I had to wait. I still remember
how she looked clearly, how she shook, I'm scared to close my eyes now, every
time I do I see that picture, I almost cried yesterday 2 times, that was the
first, I didn't though, I was kicked out to soon, and her parents where there,
I couldn't cry while her parents are there.
She was then supposed to sleep for an hour, but she didn't, she was in too
much pain to sleep. I saw her later, she was awake, she talked to me and I
talked to her, she looked bad, very sick. She later showed me the cuts, her
stomach was full of brown/yellowish stuff, I guess it was brown because there
was also some blood on it, and there were small pieces of cloth were the
stitches were. She wanted to drink some water but she still had to wait.
Rona came over and visited her too, meanwhile her parents bought me food,
even though I asked them not to, I wasn't feeling to good either,
and I was worried sick. While I was eating Rona tried to help her stand up
again, but she started shaking badly and so had to lie down, she felt bad,
dizzy and her stomach was turning. After a few hours they took her up to
the 7th floor (up till now she was in the basement or cellar where the
operating room is) and she was supposed to stay there until she felt good
enough to walk and go home. That's when the real trouble began. She couldn't
eat, a nurse gave something in the infusion so that she won't throw up, the
problem was that when she connected the normal infusion back, she put it back
bad, and Eva's arm started to bleed (it didn't stop cause when she sat
down for a few moments it started dripping down). Her mom fed her but then
she threw up, even though she got a drug to stop it. She went to bed and slept
and a friend of Eva's came, Rona left earlier, that was when I
almost cried the second time. After Eva's friend came (about an hour later) she woke
up again, she tried walking to a sofa, she sat down, but then she wanted to
get back to bed again, and on her way back she threw up again. She then tried
to sleep since the doctor said she'll be spending the night at the hospital,
her dad then took me home, even though I wanted to stay a bit more.
I got home around 20:50 after spending more than 12 hours in the hospital.
I slept late again that night, I was worried sick, I also talked to Shawn, I
asked her to call me when she has time cause I have something serious to
discuss with her, I wonder if she will call...
I came again on Wednesday morning, I got to the hospital before she woke up,
but 5 minutes later her dad came and woke her.
She brushed her teeth, she told me she also went to the bathroom that night by
herself, she tried eating a chocolate but she threw it up later on, she
threw up around 4 or 5 times today, until she finally ate more than she threw
up, she then got a pill against it, and went to sleep. She woke up feeling
better, she ate some more, and then walked a bit, took a shower, and kept
walking some more. She got released from the hospital around 15:00 (3 PM), 26 hours
after the operation, she was supposed to be there for 6 hours only after the
operation. Now she's still feeling bad, her stomach hurts (a dumb girl
walked on her stomach on the Seder and it hurts more now), I'm on the phone
with her now, she wants to throw up again, I hope she won't it's not good for
her.
I feel pretty rotten right now, but that doesn't matter.
I'll go now.
