Life After Acting
In 1987, Audrey was given the role of a lifetime. She succeeded Danny Kaye
as Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. A journalist is quoted, "Audrey Hepburn fed our insatiable
movie vantasites with exquisite finesse - rarely, if ever, letting us down, When she felt she had
given enough she began to live for herself, an in living for herself she gave hope and inspriation to
others who knew nothin of her legend". Most importantly, Audrey's concencerns were for the children. Her
son is quoted as saying her last thoughts were of the starving children in Somalia. She died in 1993 of colon cancer
George Peppard's reactio was, "a silver bell has now been silenced". It was Audrey's talent but also
her personality that sets her apart and will have her revered forever.
