Bananas grow in hot, damp climates and thrive in rich, sandy loam soil that has good drainage. The fruit originated in Asia but is now raised in the tropics of both the Eastern and Western. Each banana plant includes a large bud at the end of a stem. As the stem grows, leaves covering the bud peel back, revealing flowers. The flowers grows into tiny bananas.
