Concept
A five wire country fence runns through the exhibition space. Each
wire has a large number of coloured beads on it labelled with the cgat
letters of dna.The wires are in four langths between five posts. Each wire
represents different sequences of dna sourced from different people.
Physical interface
A nine meter fence with five posts. Many small beads on the wires that
are able to slide along the wires but are restricted to the section between
their posts.
Interaction
Next to the fence is a sign outlining the activities that the user
can do - sometimes the activities are as simple as direct comparisons between
the lengths of beads, other times they may involve searching for patterns
or examining specific lenghts. Some puzzles might include:
1. The disease "gooberitis" is represented by the combination of red,
green, red, blue, blue, red, green. Which section/s of the fence represent
people who might have this disease?
2. Which section represents a preson who has resistance to chicken
pox, if the chicken pox resistence is represented by two green beads followed
by a red bead?
3. Compare the top three rows of the fence. Which one is the first
to show a different genetic code sequence?
Information provided by exhibit
That the dna of every individual is unique but that the differences
in the dna are only very small.
