Seasons
At one time there was only winter, frozen feelings, there was very little warmth
Blinding storms raging kept us from venturing out, we never knew what was happening around us
We were stone cold, used medication that promised warmth
The heat it brought was only an illusion, the elixir only made the blood thinner, and our souls more rigid
Then there was only winter
Seeking assistance, vying to avoid becoming totally arrested, some sought refuge
They were give hope of spring
With the change came the thaw, new life began to emerge inside
Outside they began to take note of life around them
They were enjoying the beauty and the warmth of the new season, and the new sensations brought on by change
Warmer and warmer, till it grew quite uncomfortably hot
There was too much going on at once they became confused
Feeling unsettled in the heat, they were burning with the fervour of summer
Not being able to deal with the new extremity the began to shy away
The life around began to wither, the birds started to leave
Colours began to change, they basked in the beauty and relief of autumn
Life continued to wane and winter returned
The cycle became a pattern repeated
When the winter became too cold there would be warmth in the guise of spring
And when the heat was too much there was cooling
Although the changes were not always welcome they need remember
Once there was only winter
