Culture Shock

Once we would dare to look closely into the mirror

Unfulfilled we sought answers, but found only ailment

We perceived the lie we were being coerced into perpetuating

Became aware of the greed filled force that was gaining control over us all

Felt a shock that was brought on by blatant corruption

Panicked once realizing that so many were turning a deaf ear to our cries for justice

Enraged we vied time and time again to speak against the unscrupulous

Our response was ought but a misplaced reaction

We made unfortunate alliances, employed means for which we condemned others

Many of the faithful were false, not truly focused, using us to gain power

When the fog cleared, many of our heroes were in the grave

We became more confused than ever

Unable to endure the pain of our failure, we became disillusioned then dormant

Surrendering to the established regime, we became and remain in culture shock
