Have They Not Suffered Enough?
I saw a weeping child blowing a goodbye kiss to her father as she left a war torn city on a bus
Will she ever see him again, has she not suffered enough?
Children about the world are starving, dying terribly, all because of their parents grievances
How can people hate so much, what makes them deaf to the cries of their young ones
It is always the innocent who suffer most
Where is the justice, what does it take to make us heed the senseless slaughter
We destroy everything around us, leave nothing for our descendants
Our legacy is a tale of woe, still we do not acknowledge what we do to ourselves
Appreciation of beauty and self worth have been replaced by greed and self importance
This is what our children will learn from us
I
pray to God on my knees
to help me to change myself so
I can pass His message on to my loved ones
It is all I can do, I hope I have the strength to do His will for me
I must resist temptation and put my former ways behind, so my children can grow with his love, they have suffered enough
