Her fragile little body trembles in fear
As the excessive yelling comes nearer and nearer
And so she retreats to that place in her mind
A special place, no one else can find
She arrives there safely, with doll in hand
To that wonderful place, her fantasy land
There are hugh rainbows all around
Beautiful wild flowers cover the ground
The sun bursts forth with brillant light
Never giving way to the evils of night
Little doll houses adorn the hills
With teddy bears sitting on window sills
There's lollipops that line each trail
And puppy dogs with wagging tails
The wild flowers tickle her little toes
As a butterfly lands on the end of her nose
Her laughter echos through the air
And she runs and plays without a care
For here she is safe from any harm
Safe from the beatings that broke her arm
Safe from the iron that seared her skin
Safe from the stabs of a safety pin
She's not a stranger, she's been here before
But this time she'll stay for evermore
She'll have nothing to hide and no one to fear
For you see her reality ended here
