Once
we thought we had love
And
thought it would never end
But
now we know the truth
And
can no longer pretend
It
never was the kind of love
That
it should have been
Never
any real connection
Since
I don't remember when
We
went through many years
Co-existing
day to day
Sometimes
not even speaking
As
we went our separate ways
Never
sharing anything
Not
even a simple smile
The
wall just kept growing
Seemed
like for miles
You
had your life, I had mine
As
unhappy as it was to me
I
still hoped and prayed
That
one day you would see
That
all the temptations
That
you faced each day
Was
the barrier between us
I
tried to stop them in my own way
You
took it one step further
Away
from your family
Nothing
did any good
Not
even our pleas
So
now we are at
The
crossroads of our lives
And
I just want you to know
That
I have survived
Without
you altogether
Is
better then what I had
Lonely
days, lonely nights
Of
a life so sad
But
one day you will see
How
much your problems cost
You'll
know in your heart
Just
how much you lost
I
know that you feel in your mind
What
you did was justified
But
from the pain you inflicted
Yes
I have survived
And
now I am content
Within
my own heart
I
wish you only the best
As
from your life I depart
The
start of a new life
Is
very exciting and right
I
can't wait to begin
Like
a bird on it's first flight
As
the bird soars above
Remember

That
bird is the symbol
