Come sit by me my child
And I will tell of days gone by
When air was pure and clean
And oh....so sweet to breath.

You could see the sky
It once was blue like your eyes
There once was green upon the trees
Now barren brown is all you see.

The water once was clear and clean
It reflected the sky like a beam
It sparkled with the light
To see it was such a delight.

Animals of every kind once played here
Squirrels, rabbits, foxes and deer
Even birds once flew up high
In the sky when it was clear.

But alas you can not see
The things that live in my memory
I can tell you how it use to be
But it's not the same coming for me.

I am ashamed my child
Forgive me if you can
We used our world without a care
Somehow we forgot that you were here.

Maybe someday you can see
All the things I recite to thee
It might come back all a new
Someday, somehow just for....you.
