It is dead, I know
when I look at you
I don't see now
what I did before
hard to see out
thru a shut door

We were young then in hope
and you the most handsome
of them all

It is dead, I know
when I think of you
I don't feel now
what I did before
hard to feel love
when one is at war

Trusted friend, chosen mate
you hurt me more deeply
then the enemy

It is dead, I know
when I think of me
I don't know now
who I was before
easy to fall apart
with a broken heart

I could not forgive
I cannot forget
forever more

It is dead, I know
died long inside
silent scream
shattered dream
you cheated me
of what could have been

I pray for a second chance
I hope for a new tomorrow
without sorrow

It's dead, I know
and best put to rest
but first the tears
for those wasted years
sad mourning the loss
of a loved one
