I could nearly taste the freedom
That Would have soon been mine
But it was all an illusion
Only of my mind

I was like a bird flying
Soon out of sight
It only took a moment
To be shot down in mid-flight

I cried out painfully
But no one heard my pleas
From this place I'm caged
With my broken dreams

My broken wings
Hang uselessly by my side
And now, nothing matters
As I slowly wither and die
