Sudden dread of apprehension
unjustified anxiety
even knowing
the danger is only imagined
and you are safe, well and happy

Cruel familiar trigger
missing reminder
even knowing
preserved in memory
what I miss is forever mine

And those very same moments
are too my greatest joy
even knowing
my lack of modesty
in pride of whom you are today

Selfish is a mother's heart
yearning for your company
even knowing
the nurturing done
you are owed a life of your own

In love always the pain
of inevitable parting
even knowing
without a single doubt
our love is true and for eternity
