Looking out at a world
so very familiar to me now
like an old faded photograph
still and silent below
with its grainy consistency
of that ever falling snow

Looking out from afar
locked in illusive inner safety
long, slow and lost in the cold
of life's monotony ...
until I noticed them frollicking
abandoned in their happy activity

Looking out with a smile
for many other coats wet and torn
so contagious is their vitality
I no longer feel so worn
for if by life I'm tamed, I'm saved
by the continuity of life I've born

Looking out in memory
my soul lifts high with their delight
non stop tackling, falling, rolling
all dimness they turn bright
and in their wreckless energy
I find a quiet warm peace inside!
