I am surrounded by crowds of people
But alas I feel so alone
Is it because my love has gone
To places from me unknown?

There was a time when joy was here
The days held so much meaning
The light shown with such gleaming
Now darkness is all that's near.

The emptiness is hard to bear
My heart dwells in total despair
It longs for his embrace
My eyes to see his shining face.

I whisper his name upon the breeze
I call to his with all my heart
But so many miles we are apart
He does not hear my breaking heart.

I long for love's sweet caress
To feel it beat beneath my breast
Someday this pain shall pass
And I'll forget his love at last.

Till that time has come and gone
I'll feel the hurt of love's sad song
Twas sweet and gentle when it was mine
I thought it would last for all time.

But then I did not know
His love could never be mine
For he loved another
It seemed all the time.

So I shall leave love far behind
Never wanting it to be mine
For love is a bitter sweet thorn
When you heart is forever torn.
