Oh, night of darkness ebony
Embrace me within your arms
Cool my heated body with your breath
Soothe my tortured soul with thy touch.

Let me shed thy day's soiled covering
To let my spirit run free
On legs strong and powerful
With a body smooth and lean.

To blend with you in deepest ebony
With eyes that see my way
With senses that smell night's sweet perfume
To answer the voices that beckon unto me.

For I am a creature of the night
I hunt for pleasures not of the light
To feed the hunger my spirit longs for
To fulfill the self that dwells within.

I travel through the night
My journey swift and light
Small creatures scurry out of sight
They fear at my passing.

I pay them no mind
They have nothing to fear
For I hunt not for food of the flesh
Only that of the soul.

I've chased through the night
And still not found
That part of me
That one to whom I'm bound.

I see dawn's approaching light
With even greater speed it nears
Alas..another night has come and gone
And I am no closer than when I began.

Now I must return to day's sad form
Tis strength and courage I gather now
As a tear silently slips from my eye
I stand and face the light.
