The silent one watches
From the darkness alone
Waiting for the opportunity
To again become known

The silent one listens
To all of life’s woes
Offering love and friendship
Out of the darkness she goes

The silent one is poetry
Written with so much care
For broken hearts, friends
Or lovers to share

The silent one is a friend
Whenever there is a need
For a shoulder to cry on
Listening is the key

The silent one is love
Felt very deeply
Rare and delicate
And given completely

The silent one is devotion
Of an unselfish heart
Always there quietly
Giving love and support

The silent one is all
Of this and so much more
But none is returned
To the silent one’s door

The silent one doesn’t want pity
For her endless plight
She finds comfort
In the darkness of night

The silent one disappears
Back into the darkness
Waiting until needed
To again not feel useless
