-Love is a Game-
Love is a game in all aspects
A contact sport for two hearts
Mine and another less fortunate.
I’m the aggressive one,
Unfortunately, I must play a child’s game.
Aggression and anger is the cause of punishment.
Many games later, a competitor
I meet the opponent.
His love could be the plan,
The map, his plays are based.
While I have no plan.
I just improvise and stab around
With a million thoughts in mind.
Tricky moves and maneuvers
Disorient me completely, making me
Dizzy with infatuation.
Feelings of happiness overwhelm me
As I get off of the cold, hard
Ground that tells me I’m losing.
This insanity can only be
The result of a good game.
Sportsmanship yet greed for the win:
Both factors keeping my eye on the fierce competitor.
The game of love brings out
The blood of hatred and love,
Sexuality and all lacking
From my wounds in my head.
I have no choice but to hate
This loving competitor
Plans and all, he disgusts me
With his strength…and I realize
Strength is what I need.
The siege I place on him
As I walk away in defeat
Puts him in the position to cry
Let it be clear that he knows
His actions and the results.
However, the game ends with silence.
He watches me leave with sweat
Fogging his beautiful face.
No laughter, no sign if
The boasting that he should attain
For he did win after all.
Instead, he bleeds as I did
Except with no hate
He never wished to quit like I did.
So many times he has bled
In the honor of the opponent
And the game of love
Shows him only the real loser.
He planned his ways
For the next one game.
His opponent was me,
And my uneducated style
Left me as I step away.
I knew I loved him.
He loved me as well.
The game of love brings out
The worst in me.
Every mistake I’ve made
Has been through this game.
And I lose again
As I leave speechlessly
A man with the strength,
The will to play forever.
