Autumn A coolness in the air lets us know that winter is near Crisp fresh air, changing leaves, earlier sunsets All symbols of the passing summer season What was once a tall robust green tree Is now a statue of bright red and orange beauty Grass growing ever so slowly now preparing for winter Squirrels gathering their harvest of nuts and seeds Children dressing more warmly, and dew soaking the earth It's quite amazing to see how living things change so much Fall is peaceful compared to the summer that just passed The first frost of the season brings a bountiful harvest Apples, grapes, squash, and pumpkins, have to be picked Before too much longer the ground will be white with snow Autumn, one of the most colorful seasons known to mankind It is at this time that I have the most satisfaction I can sit for hours looking at trees and watch as they change Fresh autumn air brings with it fresh new thoughts and ideas I think of all four seasons I enjoy autumn the best written by Deborah copyright October 10 1999 |
