Basic Pie Pastry

2 cups flour

1 tsp salt

2/3 cup shortening

5-7 Tblsp water

mix flour salt and shortening together until crumbly add water and mix lightly until pastry forms a ball (do not over work the dough)

makes 1 double crust pie or 2 single crust pies follow baking directions in the recipe you are using

if this is just to be baked (for cream filling pies, poke plenty of holes in the pie shell and then bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes
