Brown Bread
1 1/2 cups scalded milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 Tblsp salt
1/2 cup lard stir until lard melts add
2 1/4 cups warm water and cool until just luke warm
mix 1 cup warm water with 2 Tblsp yeast and 2 tsp sugar (let stand 10 minutes) add to milk mixture gradually beat in flour
6 cups whole wheat flour, add white flour
4 1/2 - 5 cups white flour
work until dough forms a soft unsticky ball cover and let rise 1 1/4 hours cut into 4 loaves and shape place in pans and cover let rise another 1 1/2 hours
bake in 400 degree oven for 30 - 35 minutes
