Life's Work
Life is but a gift from God
We borrow for a while,
To do good deeds upon this earth
Even if it's just a smile.
It may not always seem like much
To others folks around,
But maybe they don't realise
Deeds are not measured by the pound.
A simple smile or handshake
Can bring such happiness,
To someone who is feeling blue
And feels like life is such a mess.
To help with those less fortunate
Is healing for the soul,
I know because I've done it
It has helped me feel totally whole.
I've helped with children that are sick
That know their time is near,
We took a trip to Disneyland
What a treat to see them cheer.
Good deeds come in many forms
From a smile to baking a cake,
The important thing to remember
Is that helping out is no mistake.
You may not think you're helping
Or that it's just a waste of time,
Well I happen to know the opposite
In fact the feeling is quite sublime.
May your heart be open to the thought
That helping out is good,
Even the smallest deed we do
Will reap you a huge reward.
And so it goes to the end of time
When all good deeds are addressed,
From a kingdom of solemn wonder
We now know that we've been blessed.
