Each of us are given a life
to unfold
Taking only simple tiny baby
steps
That often seem so cold and
frightening
We reach the threshold of
something new
Almost each and every day
we live
Never sure what's on the
other side
Always very hopeful for the
best
We enter this new threshold
cautiously
Knowing one wrong step could
lead to destruction
Destruction of our inner
peace, even our life
Upon having been destroyed
and taken to a new place
We discover there is life
beyond what we have now
Perhaps a new life that we're
not ready for
We beg for the return of
the life we previously had
A second chance to prove
our worthiness to others
A chance to make a difference
in the way we live
Offering profuse caring to
the lives of others
Never begrudging a stranger
a shoulder to lean on
Giving thanks to our creator
for this wonderful opportunity
The second chance to live
this life much happier than before
