Small Wonders

On an evening filled with mystery

And a chill that's in the air

The silence falls upon the night

And stars shine from overhead

Many wondrous things can happen

When the darkness fills the sky

I sit for hours just thinking

As I watch small wonders way up high

Giving off such tiny rays of light

I used to think that stars were made

For us to make our wishes on

But as I have gotten older

I have realized that wishes

Come from the heart and not from stars

I still love to look at them

They offer a sense of peace

And a magic of their own

That nothing else can beat

Stars are just one more thing

That help me to realize

How much we have to be thankful for

As they are merely a small piece

Of the beauty we can all share

So enjoy the treasures given to us

Like flowers, birds, trees, and people

That make the package complete
