THROUGH THE EYES OF A SPONGE

There once was an old sponge..a clean and dignified sponge. The sponge sat at the edge of the sink happily mopping up the clear water drips that overspilled from the tap, every now and then the cleaner would come in and squeeze the water back into the basin.

One day, like any other day, the sponge was sitting at the edge of the sink...when she heard a voice coming from below. I'm so sad and lonely the voice said. The sponge looked down and there on the floor was the dirtiest puddle of water she had ever seen. Oh don't be sad said the sponge. Why are you so sad? Because no one loves me, said the dirty water and I can't go into the basin with the clean water.

The sponge talked to the dirty water for a long time..trying to make it feel better and was feeling so sorry that the dirty water was so sad. The sponge cared about sadness you see and couldn't help but care for the dirty water.

Then suddenly the dirty water said...hey we could play a game and have some fun. Lets pretend that you can soak me up and put me in with the clean water. The sponge thought for a while and said ....I could do that for real...yes I could help you. The dirty water smiled, almost a mocking smile and said oh thank you that would be just great. You are a friend indeed.

The sponge dropped to the floor and soaked up all the dirty water. Within minutes the cleaner came into the kitchen and saw the sponge on the floor....she picked it up and squeezed it out into the basin where the clean water was. The sponge was sure she heard a muffled laugh coming from the water. Then before she knew it the old sponge was tossed into the garbage bin. It was dark and lonely in there and now it was she that felt so sad.

You see...the dirty water had seperated from the dirt and had left only the dirt behind on the sponge. Now she was just a dirty old sponge left to go on her last journey to the trash heap.

Don't believe all you hear or see, don't be a sponge, sometimes all is not as it seems. You might even end up like the poor old sponge....tossed away like trash.
