Too Young To Die

They were merely just beginning

The journey of their lives

When violence overcame them

And so many of them died

It was a vicious crime

That took them from this earth

And left a city scarred by death

Of young ones not long since birth

Why did this have to happen

It was a senseless act

Although there are no answers

We try to stay intact

With all the tears

That have been shed

And many more to come

The only comfort now for them

Is knowing they are in God's home

My hope for now from all of this

Is that we learn how not to act

But to love our fellow man

As he's the same as us in fact

If we spread a word of kindness

To those we come across in life

Then maybe we won't have to witness

Another person's tragic grief

Be kind to one another

Just offer strength and peace

And you will see rewards of love

Instead of all this grief
