A True Hero

With a shiny badge pinned to their chest

And a gun upon their hips

They walk the beat just trying

To keep peace and happiness

A call comes in on the radio

To assist with a domestic fight

They head for the scene with sirens

Screaming loudly into the night

It is their job to enforce the laws

Set forth to protect your life and mine

And every time that they do this

They lay their own lives on the line

So many of them lose their lives

In the 'line of duty' as they say

Trying to stop the violence

That is witnessed every day

To you, all my angels in uniform

I think its time to let you know

The job you do is astonishing

And in my eyes you define the word hero
