Amanda
A Kabalistic Synopsis
Amnda (Aleph, Mem, Nun, Daleth, Aleph)
The word mother can be represented in Hebrew (the language of the Kabalists) by a number of spellings, including "AM". Consequently, any name beginning with "AM" will have strong connections to the theme of motherhood. In Amanda's case, this central feature denotes one of inner conflict with the mother figure. It is possible that Amanda's mother found it difficult when Amanda began to bloom into womanhood (perhaps due to feelings of jealousy or resentment). Amanda as a result has a deep-seated fear of re-creating this situation with her own female offspring. Amanda has a reflective temperament, but she does not let it interfere with her generally active life. She has a great love of the outdoors and will try any number of activities, from climbing to cycling. Ideally, she will work by the sea or, at least, in some water-based endeavor.
The Runic Interpretation
(Ansuz, Dagaz, Nauthiz, Ansuz, Mannaz, Ansuz)
Amanda is a woman of keen intelligence who will find a way to pursue higher learning because she is very motivated and her mind is quick and sure. She enjoys being active and is at her best when she engages in such leisure pursuits as skiing or hang gliding with friends. She enjoys the company of witty people, laughing for days over a good joke. Her challenge will be to provide structure for herself and to control some compulsive tendencies, which could be about food or men or money. Prayer helps her when she feels out of control. Singing is good for her, as well as public speaking. As she grows older, Amanda will become more comfortable with silence, and this shift is indicative of balance returning to her life.
The Numerological Interpretation
Amanda ( NV=7, CV=4, VV=3, FL=1)
Amanda denotes a person who has a careful sense of order and structure, and an understanding that rewards come only from hard work and personal effort. Although she is very open to communicating with others, Amanda has a tendency to retreat into herself in order to regenerate her energy. A deep thinker, Amanda may not appear to be paying attention to the world outside of herself. This is because her own internal world occupies a great deal of her attention. Yet, it is from this contact with her own internal world that Amanda derives a great deal of her strength
