This past semester I took the class Anthropology of Mass Media. Our instructor, Professor Panourgia showed us many ways that we could view the mass media. Essentially, the Mass Media is a visual medium and so after reading The Ways of Seeing by John Berger for my final paper I realized that my entire semester within the class could be expressed in the form of a pictorial essay. John Berger uses several of these within his text and the resulting images stayed with me long after I had finished the book. I hope these images that have stayed with me from my time in this class will cause you to think and hopefully these images will help you understand the close link of the mass media with the images they choose to show us. Either way, I hope you enjoy my essay! Thanks to Professor Panourgia for an interesting semester and to all of you reading this now! Have a nice summer!
