Brent the Raccoon, Gallery #2

Brent sitting on a boulder near the swirling, icy water of Brandy Creek by Whiskeytown Lake off of Highway 299 West. The creek and lake are open year round to tourists. You can purchase 1-day passes or year-round passes for a nominal fee. The park includes fishing areas, boating areas, hiking trails, creeks, wildlife, a small beach, etc.

Another shot of Brent at Brandy Creek but this time he's in a bole of one of the huge oak trees in the park on one of the hiking trails. Most trails are well-marked and easily managed even by inexperienced hikers. Beware of bears, however, and only camp or build fires in designated areas.

Brent on the beach at Oak Bottom, at the west end of Whiskeytown Lake, off of Highway 299 West. This beach-park offers spring and summertime swimming access to the lake, shaded picnic tables, snack bars, restrooms, a boat ramp, and small amphitheater. Most of the facilities are closed in the winter, but you can still walk the grounds. The pass you buy at Whiskeytown Lake usually also overs access to Oak Bottom, so you don't have to pay a second fee to visit it.

Brent in the "cockpit" of a refurbished, classic 1965 Thunderbird owned by Martin J. Hanson. Even toy raccoons need to travel in style sometimes!

This is Brent at Whiskeytown Lake looking over to Mount Shasta Bolly
in the distance. Shasta Bolly is about 4,000 feet high.

This is Brent behind the ruins of Old Shasta. Tucked in behind the old
buildings are more ruins, old ovens, and trails decorated with wild
poppies, daffodils and periwinkle.

This is Brent at the Marina at Whiskeytown Lake looking across
a narrow stretch of beach to the inner lake islands.
