My Testimony
    Alrighty... how should I begin?
....well.... I was brought up in a Christian family and had always thought that I was a Christian because of that... I went to Sunday School at the local church (I was in Hong Kong at the time) and knew all the answers... and at the end of every year, my brother and I could always count on getting the 100% attendence prize!
Then my family migrated to Australia when I was 10... and I guess this is when my Christian life went all wacko and I started to rebel.....
Due to the language barrier, my brother and I found it extremely difficult to fit in with the rest of the kids at our new church in Australia which was a chinese-english church. All the kids spoke english and we of course spoke nothing but chinese.... and what do you know?! we soon became enemies, and I soon started to rebeled against church. After 2 years of being at that church, my family left and went to yet another church where things weren't much better.....  my rebelion continued...
In 1992, my dad was asked by Rev. Nichols from Ashfield Baptist Church to set up a chinese branch next door, he was then a pastor but was ordained to be a baptist reverend in 1993. The problem I once had years ago has now reversed itself and I now spoke english much better than i spoke chinese but guess what? I was at a chinese church! This caused me to further rebel, I'm ashamed to say that at times I even used church as an way to rebel against my parents... I attended Ashfield Chinese Baptist Church until 1994.
1994 was a year of change for me, first of all, I changed schools from Burwood Girls' to St George Girls' and it was then that my Chirstian life started to look up. At first, i questioned God as to why I had to leave Burwood Girls', "Why Lord? Why?" I asked, I was happy there and happy with the friends I had... who were not Christians.
I made friends with a group of Christians at St George, and were introduced to things like ISCF (Inter School Christian Fellowship), Yr 10 Bible Study and prayer meetings... and it was through these things that I really started to see that God works amazingly in our lives and that trials and suffering happen for a reason. They happen all as a part of God perfect plan. I soon came to realise the importance of having the Lord Jesus Christ in our lives and how important it is to trust in Him as it says in Hebrews 10:23 "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.". I think it was then that I truly understood the love of God for the first time in my life. I
Later on in the year, a friend of mine from school invited me to visit her church which was another chinese-english church. As I found that I couldn't serve and worship God in chinese at Dad's church, I decided to stay, and so I did for 2 years until my recent (september 97) switch to Central Baptist Church.
I was baptised on the 23rd of June 1995 by my dad at Ashfield Chinese Baptist Church.
I'm really grateful to God for placing me at CBC, as I have been presented with many opportunities to serve/ grow in Christ with the support and encouragement I constantly receive from my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
