SightseeingThis is the Trapp Family Lodge. More about that later. The view is with the sun setting behind the building.
Turn around from the previous picture and this is what you get, a wonderful view of the Vermont Green Mountains. Wouldn't you just love to stay there?
More of the Green Mountains. Staying in the Lodge would allow you to wake up and go to bed with this view.
This is the Lodge lake with the mountains in the background. You think there's any polar bear swimming?
Back to the Lodge! This is the main building. In here is the front desk and the dining room. On the day of this visit there was a classical harp scheduled for dinner in the dining room.
The sun continues to set right behind the lodge.
As you can see, the Trapp Family Lodge also has guest houses, a great time sharing plan. Can you guess who these people are?
Well, if you haven't guessed already, times up. This is the famous Von Trapp family of which "The Sound of Music" was made. When they left Austria they dropped the Von and became the Trapp family and have been living in Vermont. Some of them still sing and release CDs from time to time.
I don't know who these people are! Oh, OK. They're the CompUSA team (minus me - holding the camera). From left to right: Kathy, Anne, Jay, Bernard, Bob. Denise: Did you get all that? Look at the mountains behind them!!
On the property of the Trapp Family Lodge are America's only Red, Long Haired cows. The Trapps imported them from Eastern Europe. They are also very rare throughout the world.
Aren't they majestic animals? It seems that both the male and female of this species have horns. Milking must have to be done very carefully!!!
I think he/she wants to get friendly. Oh, thank heaven for fences!!!
The herd is about 30 or 40 head. And, somewhere in the back are two little white calves!
They don't stray too far from each other or too far from that grove of trees.
This is not what it seems. At first we thought it was a covered bridge. Actually, it's a covered walkway on the side of an open road. It's in the town of Stowe, about ten miles from Waterbury, where we had dinner Wednesday evening.
This is the Stowe Cemetery. I can only begin to imagine how far back these head stones date.
These are two members of the Noble family. I only assume they are family because they are so close to each other. As you can see, their deaths date back to the 1860s and 70s.
This is a house with the most interesting spot lights shining on it. How's that for night lights??
One of the best tourist sites in that part of the country is the Chocolate Factory. My favorite was the chocolate covered potato chips!
Stop me before I buy everything chocolate.
And, of course, everything is an opportunity for Kathy to take a smoke. Wait, is she getting shorter?
