PCE 2000 - Perlis Caving Expedition

Lo Po Sang Team on 24/12/2000

Team Members

Leong, Yoke Chuan, Min Er, Darren

The team arrived at the car park at 1000hrs to trek up to the limestone hill top. Leong, Darren, Min Er and Yoke Chuan walked up to the sinkhole to set up base before decending down. The walk up to the hill top took almost 5 hours as each off the members carried their own personal gears and rations in excess of 20kg. The team begin to descend at 1800h with Leong leading the first drop. After 9 hours of continuous caving, the team decided to rest and call it a night by clearing a spot in a narrow passage. Finding a suitable sleeping area was a challenge. The passages were narrow with widths no more then 2m and a continuous stream flowing. As they were tired from the abseiling section and hauling of gears, falling asleep next to a noisy stream was not a difficult task. The team manage to sleep for 3.5h before proceeding to the final pitch where they stopped last year.

After descending into the last pitch, the team  meet up the Baba team 3 hours later. At last the cavers manage to physically traverse from Gua Lo Po Sang to Gua Baba. Now, the cavers are sure that these two systems can be traversed
