Oakford House
Dana Oakford walks down her staircase in a beautiful diamond-stunned gown. She is ready to attend the next-door neighbor, Lawlor's Winter Gala. She waits for her husband, Jon.
DANA: Jon, Hurry up, I don't want to be late! Cheap bastard!
Lawlor Estate
Stephanie Lawlor is in her bedroom. Tomas Macado enters through the balcony.
STEPHANIE: Tomas, I can't be seen with you.
TOMAS: I need to talk with you.
Misty's Cafe
Quincee Woods watches as the 'popular' kids have fun at a table.
QUINCEE: They think they're so cool. And of them all, Dallas Oakford still manages to act like an ass!
Waterfront Apartments
Ryan Lawlor is dressed in a tux and rings his girlfriend, Georgia's, door. Georgia comes out in a beige evening gown.
RYAN: Georgia, You look beautiful.
GEORGIA: Thank you, Ryan.
RYAN: Georgia, I'm sure this'll be a night to remember.
Oakford House
Dana looks at herself in a mirror putting on a gold choker.
DANA: Oh Greta thinks she's something, but tonight Carter will be mine...
Jon enters.
JON: Ready, Dana?
DANA: More than ever. Kids, We'll be back by midnight!
Sylvie is upstairs in her bedroom.
SYLVIE: Alright, Mom.
The front door closes.
SYLVIE: Mom won't like this, but I have to see what's up with her and Dad.
Ryan Lawlor's limo
Ryan and Georgia are driving on Beach Road.
GEORGIA: I'm so happy, Ryan, you're taking me.
RYAN: I love you, Georgia.
GEORGIA: You do?
RYAN: Yes. This invitation was meant to move us to the next level.
GEORGIA: What next level?
Ryan moves in and kisses Georgia for the first time.
Lawlor Estate
The ballroom is dressed for the gala. Greta Lawlor enters in a fantastic purple gown in the arms of Carter Lawlor, her husband. Guests begin to enter.
Upstairs...
STEPHANIE: Tomas, This isn't the time. Me and Jorge are having our engagement announced at this gala!
TOMAS: My brother doesn't love you, Stephanie. Listen to me.
STEHANIE: Don't tell me that. Jorge and I are deeply in love.
TOMAS: I won't live without you. And I can't...
Tomas pulls Stephanie into a passionate kiss as the doorknob begins to open...
Misty's Cafe
In the 'popular' corner, Dallas Oakford and Jenny Cole are laughing together with a crowd of hungry teenagers.
Quincee is wearing a black velvet shawl drinking coffee.
QUINCEE: What an ass!
Suddenly, Jenny looks at Quincee.
JENNY: Hey, Look it's the Disaster!
QUINCEE: Go to Hell, Cheerleader!
Oakford House
Sylvie walks into Dana's bedroom and takes out a yellow journal in her lingerie drawer.
SYLVIE: Mom, This is the only way to know if you're having an affair.
Sylvie opens a page when her best friend Paige Lawlor walks in.
SYLVIE: Paige, Oh Paige you scared me!
PAIGE: Sorry. What's up?
Sylvie hides the diary, but Paige is too quick.
PAIGE: Your mother's diary?
SYLVIE: Yes! I'm sorry, Paige, but I think my mom is having an affair.
PAIGE: With who?
SYLVIE: Shouldn't you be at the party anyway?
PAIGE: Just another stupid bash. Nothing special.
SYLVIE: Oh...
PAIGE: Well, with who?
SYLVIE: It's sorta embarassing, but I think it's your dad, Carter.
PAIGE: What?
SYLVIE: Well we'll find out the truth. I want my parents to stay together!
PAIGE: But, Sylv...
Sylvie randomly looks at a page and reads it.
SYLVIE: Oh my God...
Ryan Lawlor's Limo
GEORGIA: Ryan, Are we really ready for that?
RYAN: Why not? We've dated before.
GEORGIA: But our relationship was just friendly.
RYAN: You just thought we were friends?
GEORGIA: Well...yeah.
RYAN: You can't be serious.
GEORGIA: You really want to move that fast?
RYAN: Yeah.
Georgia thinks about it. If she gets involved with Ryan, she'll be rich, but did she really want to hurt Ryan like that? She needed the money fast- she had to support her daughter, Amanda, the one she's hid from Ryan. Amanda had always went with her grandmother, Susan. Amanda had cancer...she needed to find a way to have money...
RYAN: I'm sorry. I guess I was too fast.
GEORGIA: No, not really...
Lawlor Estate
The party proceeds on downstairs.
Meanwhile in Stephanie's bedroom...
STEPHANIE: Tomas! I'm marrying your brother!
TOMAS: Yes, I know...
STEPHAnIE: Tomas, We can't do this!
Tomas looks her in the eye. Stephanie is tempted by Tomas and always has been. In a glance, Stephanie is already enchanted with Tomas' sexy green eyes.
STEPHANIE: Tomas, It'll ruin everything.
Without a word, Tomas kisses her passionately again as they slowly fall on the bed.
Meanwhile, the doorknob turns....
Misty's Cafe
Jenny Cole gets up...mad. Quincee confidently gives her an evil eye.
JENNY: Listen, bitch!
QUINCEE: Get the hell way from me, Jenny.
JENNY: You want to start with me? Oops, I'm sorry! Another suspension and you're out of the ball game, aren't you?
QUINCEE: Just because your dad's principal doesn't mean crap!
JENNY: Oh, yeah?
QUINCEE: Yeah. He can't be your Daddy Waddy 24/7.
JENNY: You're dead meat, Quincee. Dead meat!
The girls evil-eye each other to death, until Dallas sits across from Quincee at the table.
JENNY: Dallas, I can handle her.
DALLAS: Quincee, C'mon. Not here.
QUINCEE: Worried about your prom king and queen reputations?
Dallas doesn't know what to say.
JENNY: This bitch needs to be put in her place, Dallas!
DALLAS: Maybe later? (laughing)
JENNY: Always joking, Dallas. (to Quincee) See you again, Shadow
QUINCEE: When Daddy's not molesting you...
Lawlor Estate
Ryan and Georgia enter. Georgia is now confident of what she has to do.
She thinks about poor Amanda coughing her brains out in some hospital room. Ryan is a friend...he might even loan some money, but if Georgia marries Ryan...she'll always have money...
Dana and Jon Oakford enter. Dana looks at Carter and then at Greta.
She looks so happy. I wish I could be happy with Jon. His idea of happiness is lounging around at the bar all night. Carter is so sweet....
JON: Honey, Some punch?
DANA: Uh...Sure, Jon.
JON: Then maybe later we can go dancing.
DANA: Wow, You finally offered!
JON: Honey, Let's not fight.
DANA: Jon, You're the one that insists we fight.
JON: Dana, I'm getting punch. Stay right here.
DANA: Where would I go?
Upstairs...
Stephanie rolls off the bed.
STEPHANIE: Tomas, Please. Someone might enter.
TOMAS: The door is locked, right?
STEPHANIE: Jorge has a key anyway.
TOMAS: Don't worry. We still have time.
STEPHANIE: Tomas, You won't stop me from marrying Jorge.
TOMAS: But I will...
Voices are heard outside and whoever was at the door has turned and left. The voice is Jorge Macado, fiancee of Stephanie Lawlor.
STEPHANIE: Oh my God, Jorge!
TOMAS: Good. I'll tell the bastard to his face that he's not marrying you!
Oakford House
PAIGE: What is it, Sylvie?
SYLVIE: It's true. My mom and dad hate each other. Dammit!
PAIGE: Sylvie, That's ridiculous!
SYLVIE: (in tears) My mom wrote that she had feelings for your dad and they're gonna divorce each other! Dammit!
PAIGE: My dad? That's even more ridiculous than the other thing. Or at least I hope it's not true...
Sylvie is crying a mile a minute.
PAIGE: Sylvie!
SYLVIE: They're breaking up!
Sylvie gets up and walks around the room, pacing.
PAIGE: I'm a little upset that you think my dad would ever look at your mom that way!
SYLVIE: How do you think I feel?
PAIGE: Let me read that.
SYLVIE: It's true!
PAIGE: C'mon, It can't be!
SYLVIE: It is, though...
PAIGE: Oh my God. Here it is. That slut.
SYLVIE: What?
PAIGE: She likes my Dad. That slut!
SYLVIE: My mom isn't a slut. Take that back!
PAIGE: She is...she likes my father!
Lawlor Estate
Carter is preparing to give a speech. Jon hands Dana a glass of punch. She eagerly takes it with all eyes on Carter Lawlor.
CARTER: Welcome, Everyone to the 1st Annual Lawlor Winter Gala....A night you won't forget! And now my beautiful wife, Greta Ashton-Lawlor will speak...
DANA: Oh there goes the party!
JON: Greta looks good...
DANA: Silicon-lover.
GRETA: ...And Thank you, all.
Just then, Carter approaches Dana and Jon.
CARTER: Hello, Jon.
JON: Great party, Carter. You really out did yourself.
CARTER: Thank you. Dana, I have something to ask you.
DANA: Yes, Carter. (attentive)
CARTER: It's about my daughter, Paige.
DANA: Oh. Yes, Paige. My daughter and your daughter are very good friends.
CARTER: Do you mind if you and I take this...
DANA: To the kitchen perhaps?
CARTER: Yes, That would be very nice of you.
Dana is blooming. All her life she has waited for Carter Lawlor and tonight she may get him in just the right place with careful precocion...
Misty's Cafe
Quincee stares at the 'popular' group.
QUINCEE: You people are so pathetic it makes me sick.
At her table, Jenny looks at Quincee coldly.
Why does that girl make me so sick? I guess it's because she's a bad seed that just won't go away. Oh, What I wouldn't do to kill her. And God knows Dallas won't reject her...Why won't he reject her? Oohh, I can't stand Quincee! One thing is for sure, if she lays a hand on him, I'll break her sorrowful little neck!
Jenny smiles at that thought and curls her evil eyebrow at Quincee, who is staring outside, looking at the town of Christiansberg...
