Delivery and operational service

This article is related to the specific side of Czech support to communist friendly countries on the World - deliveries of the great "twenty nines" (Aero L-29 "Delfin" light jet) to Idi Amins regime in Uganda.
First order for 14 planes came from Uganda sometimes in 60s and first delivery was sent in 1967. These planes served from Entebe A.F.B. as general purpose jet for advanced training and light ground attack actions.
Important role played during last take over against Idi Amins government in 1978 when (equipped with rockets and bombs) attacked government forces efficiently.

This first camouflage scheme was changed in half of 70 s, during revisions. Upper surfaces were oversprayed by Light Sand base coat and Dark Green spots.
Original Black code, U-101 to U-114, was changed to the Yellow U-501 to U-514. Under surfaces were original Turquise, including Red stripes.

Scale Plastic Kit Available

Only avaliable Scale Plastic Assembly kit of the L-29 is produced in Czech Republic in scale 1:72 by factory KP (known as KoPro). The kit is very fine but is very old - the first scale model in 1:72 serie of the factory. Very fine is cockpit clear top, but very rough is interior and landing gear. Proportions and shape of parts are O.K.
Decal set includes original version of the Uganda (Brown/Gray/Turquise) and for exotic warbirds enthusiast is great fact that the Uganda A.F. insignia decals are very fine.
