Recycle that old roof slate!! Paint a picture on it!!
Most of the old roof slate that I have painted on, has been upward of 80 years old.
Is a plus if you can attach a tag with the history of the piece of slate.
A thorough scrubbing is the preparation required. (This can be a dirty job
after 80 or more years on a roof!!
The average size of a slate is 10" X 20". This will vary.

Now that you have cleaned, cut, and finally painted all those treasured old roof slates, use any electric drill to drill holes for hanging. Make sure you seal both sides of your slate with an exterior sealant (if it is to be hung outside), attach hanger of your choice (jute works well), and enjoy!!!!
