Marston Millennium Festival - covering eight days from Friday 23rd to Friday 30th June 2000. The festival will include the following events organised by voluntary members of organisations based in Marston.

Marston Millennium Festival

Friday 23rd St Nicholas Church & Church Hall 7.00 - 9.30

Our Millennium Festival begins within the walls of Marstons oldest building. The Lord Mayor, local councillor Maureen Christian, will light a symbolic candle, as the light is passed around to everyone, we will join in the Millennium Resolution. Our celebrations then begin with a few 'snapshots' using words, music and song describing how the church was used at various times in the last 1,000 years. The festivities then continue into the Church Hall where an exhibition of local art and crafts are on display. Free entry

Saturday 24th

Flower Festival St Nicholas Church - open during daylight hours.

Living History Site - White Hart pub. Civil War 12.00 - 5.00pm re-enactments of life in Marston

Art & Craft Exhibition - St Nicholas Church Hall 10 -5pm - teas available

Transports of Delight - Concert OXSRAD 7.30pm entrance free

Remember When..? Audio Visual exhibition New Marston Pastoral Centre 2 - 6pm

Sunday 25th

Fancy Dress Pram Race - Inter pub challenge. 3pm from the Somerset to the Bricklayers.

Art & Craft Exhibition - St Nicholas Church Hall 10 - 5pm teas available

Remember When…? Audio Visual exhibition New Marston Pastoral Centre 12 - 2pm

Living History Site - White Hart pub. 12.00 - 4pm Civil War re-enactments of life in Marston.

June Fair - Mortimer Recreation Ground 2.00 - 5.00pm

Monday 26th

White Hart Quiz Night Challenge 8.00pm start

Friday 30th

Finals night - Friar = Aunt Sally - Pool & Darts = Jack Russell 8.30pm start

After dark lantern procession from Old Marston to New Marston. Carry a lantern or bring a torch 9.30pm leave St Nicholas Church Hall.

Millennium Committee

Consists of Tony Price (Vicar of St Nicholas Church) as Chair and Christine Turley plus members from locally based organisations.
