Philosophy

I n life all things are relative, to me. We all see things this way. We judge others by what we know, what we see, what we have heard, and what we think. It is the "me" thing. We are good people and bad people. Ourselves, this is the most important thing in the world. Everything we do, will do, have done-for the "me". Even when you do things for others, it is really either to ease your conscience, or to make yourself feel good, for the favor they owe you later. No matter what you do in your life-it will always be for an ulterior-yourself. That isn't bad. It is just true. It is the survival instinct. Even when you don't think you have it anymore-you do. Haunting under all the things you do, all the things you think, is the truth. We are merely what nature made us-human. If you read on- why? You decide.

When we realize this we can move forward. Move into the forbidden world that slowly chokes out our freedom of speech. Dredging up from the deepest ravines of our past and trampling down the ones that are offensive. Aristotle would find the irony maddening. We move away from that which we sought those many years ago. Does the persecution begin again? Where will we find a new world to try again? What paths do we follow from here? Soon the words I write will be pointless. We move to the confining restraints of a world eager to control the populace. To what extent? I can see only trouble where we are headed now. I search for the meaning, for the ends to the means. Yet, still there is nothing. Today we will ban things for the good of our children, for the good of the country, and for the good of ourselves and our Gods. Tomorrow we will ban that which could change our simplistic little lives, and tear down our haunting paradise-so infested as it is with the hungry worms hidden beneath the ripe red surface. In the end-will we be better people? Will our children be happy with the results?
