The Goddess takes on three forms in Wicca. They are the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. The Goddess takes on the form of the Maiden when she appears as a young, beautiful woman. In ancient stories she may grant the power to rule or present a weapon or chalice to a male. The Goddess as a mother symbolizes fertility and healing. In myths and legends she may give birth to animals, land features, or plants. A mother goddess is often described as pregnant and often become pregnant by unusual means.
