There are a variety of tools I and many other Wiccan use in our rituals. We use them because they help us focus and give us a feeling of control and power. To start out in Wicca you don't need to worry about having all of these tools. Just a few neccessary basics will get you through you're first ritual. Some more practiced wiccans don't even feel the need to use their's any longer. They rely on their connections to the earth and the goddess and god. Any certain questions? Athame (ah-tha-may)or Black handled knife: This knife is use in ritual to direct engery and manipulate energy. It is black because black absorbs power. Some people engrave their athames with power symbols. The knife is linked with the God. Cup: The cup is a symblol of the Goddess and fertility. It is used to hold the ritual drink or water during cerimonies and spells. Censer: The censer is an inscense burner. It holds burning incense during rituals and things like that. Book of Shadows:(Workbook)This is a workbook containing thingsd such as rituals, spells, and rules. Sometimes they are passed on through familieas and through coven, but not neccessarily.
