
29th May 96 : D7633 on the SVR weedkiller train at Bridgnorth.
Although classed as "preserved", the Severn Valley Railways Class 25 is very much a working engine. Used by the
Permanent Way Department, it is pretty well in use seven days a week. Here it is at Bridgnorth on the weedkilling train.
1st March 97 : Gloucestershire Warwickshire railway Class 25 D7659.
Ex-works D7659 is seen at Toddington during the GWR 1997 spring diesel gala.
17th Aug 97 : 25035 on the NLR in fake maroon livery.
What the Western Region Class 25's may have looked like in the 1960's had they been painted in the same colours as the diesel
hydraulics. None of the Class ever carried this livery in service.
14th June 82 : 25117 at Ashton near Northampton.
25117 trundles along the down slow at Ashton, Northants on a train of empty wagons. Until the mid 1980's
most freight in this area used Class 25's for motive power.
24th March 84 : 25311 at Bedford stabling point.
During the transition time between Class 25's and 31's, an example of each class is seen at the Bedford stabling point.
8th Sept 84 : 25313 in company with 31171 at Rugby.
late 1984 and still Classes 25 and 31 could be seen stabled together. Within a year or so all Class 25's had been reallocated
away from the south end of the West Coast Main Line in favour of Class 31's.
11th May 96 : 25735 on the NLR in fake freight grey livery.
A second fake livery for 25035 was the early 1990's freight grey. No Class 25's ever received this livery in service, nor were
numbered in the 257xx series.
17th July 83 : 97250 "ETHEL1" at Oban on a Sunday special working.
In 1983 three Class 25's were converted into non-driving "ETHEL" units (ETHEL = Electric Train Heating Ex-Locomotive) for use in Scotland
with Class 37 traction and air conditioned stock. One of ETHEL1's first outings is captured here.
