3rd August 91 : Romanian built 56008 at Banbury.

The first 30 Class 56's were built in Romania and shipped to the UK in 1976 and 1977. This 1991 shot shows one of the early examples, still in "original" condition. Note also that Banbury at this time still had GW lower quadrant signals.

Many Class 56's were repainted into two-tone grey and had sub-sector markings applied. The black diamonds on a yellow background represent the coal sub-sector.

The last 50 or 60 of the class were outshopped in large-logo livery as seen here. At this time in 1983, 56125 was about the newest example out and about.
