The 1000mm narrow gauge Class 199's were originally standard gauge Class 201's. They were converted in 1988 and do look very top-heavy on their narrow gauge bogies. As can be seen they also dwarf the coaches too.

The Class 218 is Simply the best German diesel Class in my opinion. I'm not too sure what to make of this livery though!

Some Class 218's have 1840kW engines (3,000hp). They are used on passenger and freight workings. In the Munich area they are sometimes seen working passenger trains in pairs. In other areas they work local services in push-pull mode - one on each end!

The 219 class, built between 1976 and 1984 in Romania were regarded as a failure, although significant numbers still operated over former DR metals in 1996. The drivers have given this class the nickname "U-Boat" due to the cab layout.
