Basically a mixed traffic locomotive with a top speed of 90km/h, some 336 were built between 1936 and 1941. 40 of the class were rebuilt as oil burners in the 1950's.

One of many 750mm gauge steam locomotives built between 1928 and 1933. Recently some of the class have been rebuilt as oil burning instead of coal - it could therefore be argued that they are "diesel-steam locomotive's"!

This Class of locomotive is used mainly on passenger services, from push-pull suburban workings to long distance mainline passenger services.

103 101-2 at Nuernberg Hauptbahnhof

Of all the DB electrics I rate this late 60's/early 70's built Class as the best in Germany. Their maximum speed is 200km/h.

Originally a freight locomotive, many now work on local passenger services all over Germany in addition to their more traditional heavy freight work.

A Class most commonly used on push-pull passenger workings. The Class 111 alongside is in S-Bahn livery.

One of DBAG's newer electric Classes. This particular example carries the new "DB Cargo" branding, despite being used on a passenger working!

The original E94 Class dates from the early 1940's and was used on the East German railway system well into the 1990's. Austrian Railways also operated a number of examples (as Class 1020) into the 1990's.

France has the TGV, Germany the ICE or "Inter-City Express". Dating from the late 1980's, DB is still having ICE units built in 1998, though in many different configurations to the original "2 power cars plus x number of coaches" arrangement. Top design speed is 280km/h.
