138 waits at Oldenzaal with a service to Zutphen.
The motor car of DMU 145 is seen at Zutphen. These units have amazingly quiet and vibration free engines - sitting in the passenger accomodation of this coach I could not tell it was the one with the engine in it!
Built in 1953, this class of unit were nicknamed "blue angels" due to them baing painted in a light blue livery with wings on the cab front. The unit on the right is a plan U 3-car DMU.
In 1998, Oostnet (a bus operator) took over operation of the Almelo to Mariënberg line using two "blue angel" DMU's. The livery chosen was similar to that originally applied when they were new.
The Class 3100 and 3200 DMU's which operate in the north of Holland carry "Wadloper" branding. Literally translated it means "mud flat runner" which is a reflection on the type of land through which they operate.
3201, one of the two-car "Wadloper" DMU's waits departure time from Delfzijl on a train bound for Groningen.
The bay platform at the west end of Leeuwarden station is used for trains to Roodeschool and Delfzijl. A service to the latter is seen here.
