Slowly, she walked down the deserted street. It led off the air force base into a lake bed. She did her best to not look at the shadows that surrounded her. I'm well aware that yr behind me, she told it. It had been following her ever since that night. The night in the park. The spell somehow called it forth. She had not yet figured out how. There was only one other person who could help her. But he wouldn't even look at her anymore. There had been a fight between them and.... a noise made her head jerk. It had come from behind her. Her pace quickened. She didn't know where she was going, but she knew she had to leave her home. Everywhere she went, it had followed her causing problems. Even her friends were scared to be around her because of the bad luck that followed her. What am I going to do? she wondered. Maybe if she could call to him. Maybe he would listen now. Mentally, she built up the power. It had always been there and it was always growing, inside her. Concentrating as best she could she used her power to speak to him. In his mind. Pease, I need u. then she felt it. He responded. I'm here. I know and I'm here. The power of his response gave her a shock. She stopped in her tracks and turned. Behind her from the darkness, he emerged. The form was dressed in full black. His black hair hung to just above his ears and his eyes were piercing, yet somehow, dull in the night. She couldn't bring herself to look into the night behind him. It's presence was strong and she knew it was close to them. Stepping forward he put his arm around her shoulder and they continued. Both realized that the lake bed was where they would confront it. She glanced at him long enough to try and read his mind. The only thing he would let her read was that he knew what she was going through and he was going to help her. He was stronger in power then she was and reading his mind was not simple. They were the only two who knew it exsisted and they had to combine their powers to defeat it. Or die trying. the lake bed was at their feet. For a second they paused, then slowly stepped forward. Her feet touched the dirt and she felt the surge of power that ment that this was not the first time something magickal had happened here. then the vision came to her. Before there had been two. They had done the same as they were about to do. In that, she knew what her future was and how it would all come out. In unison, they turned. She couldn't actually fully see it, but he could. What she could do was feel it. It's evilness made her shudder. They joined hands and began to chant. Neither knew what they were doing, but it was coming to them as they went along. First, they cast a protection spell. Then they opened the dark portal where they would banish it to. She felt it move towards them, trying to break the spell. It didn't work. All around them it began to rain from a clear sky. The wind blew harder then she had ever felt it. Suddenly a circle of fire sprung around them. The elements were w/ them. helping them. Then it attacked. Rather then waste energy it used physical means. Slashing at her arms, now raised, and chest. It's claws ripped cleanly through her flesh, but she continued her chant w/o flinching. It caused only wounds made of voids. Dark gaps in her flesh that would not heal quickly. Next to her, she knew it ripped at him as well. Then, w/ the force of her mind, when the time was right, they pushed it. Yelling her commands of punishment and banishment she sent it into the portal. He did the same. W/ a shreik that curdled her blood and sent shivers down her spine, it was sucked into the hole. Everything was suddenly still. For a long moment she saw it's red eyes staring at her, getting smaller and smaller, through the black void. They burned into her mind and soul. Then it was gone. Everything. The elements had given their help and returned to their planes. Only the two mortals stood in the lake bed. There was no evidence of what had happened. The dawn began to break. the time had passed quickly. She looked upon her wounds. There were no flesh wounds. They looked at each other and turned towards the sun. The scars the thing had caused was upon their minds. Their pasts had been erased along w/ all of their memories, save the ones of each other. Thier power was gone. For w/o a purpose, there is no power. Quietly they headed farther onto the lake bed and ino the sun. W/ no future or past they walked on, hand in hand.
