I thought that you might enjoy seeing another of the baskets that I have made. I have made this basket in many colors. I chose this mauve color so you could see the detail easier.
As you get further into basket weaving, you too will be able to create baskets such as this. All it takes is practice and a bit of patience and you will be able to do it.
This is a closeup photo of the detailed roses on the basket. Each rose is made with 1/4" flat reed that has been dyed to the color that is desired for the basket flowers. The reed is then twisted and folded into the shape of the roses. The curls are made from small round reed that has been soaked in water and rolled onto a dial rod until thoroughly dry. Then it is taken off, cut into 2" pieces. The flowers and curls are then glued onto the basket with a hotmelt glue gun. The leaves are silk leaves and are also glued onto the basket.
Again, the braiding of the handle, and the braiding of the edge of the basket is not as hard as it looks. Just a bit of practice, and patience. You too can learn how to do this. As an extra touch, I have started lining my baskets with matching material of cotton. I attach it inside of the basket with the gluegun.
I am proud of my baskets. I am pleased to be able to put these instructions on the net for all of my cyberfriends to enjoy. If you have any questions I will try to answer them for you.
I will add more baskets soon. So, be patient and practice
