Descendants of Jean Jacques Daigrepont (Ducrepont)Generation No. 1Jean Jacques Daigrepont and Eugenie Vitrac had one child: Pierre Daigrepont (Ducrepont) born: 1819 *** Note I: DAIGREPONT - Sieur Jean Jacques Vernin Daigrepont, native of Moulin, province of Bourbon, France, first settled in Pointe Couppee about 1810, married there in 1815, but by 1819 he and his bride had moved to Avoyelles, where they settled the family farm near present day Hessmer. Daigrepont had married Eugenie Vitrac, born March 9, 1791, daughter of Dr. Jacques Paul Vitrac, a native of Bordeaux, France, and Marie Clemence LaCour. Jacques and Eugenie had only one child, Pierre Daigrepont, before the early death of Jacques. After the death of Jacques, his widow remarried in 1822 Ebenezer G. Paxton. (summary by Randy DeCuir) Note II: Eugenie Vitrac was born in Pointe Coupee Parish March 9, 1791 and baptised at St. Francis of Pointe Coupee on June 9, 1791. She was 24 years old at the time of the wedding which took place on False River. She was the daughter of Dr. Jacques Paul Vitrac, a surgeon and prominent citizen of the Parish. His wife was Marie Clemence Lacour, daughter of Simon Lacour and Perrine Leonard/Frederic and granddaughter of Nicolas de Lacour and Perrine Brette. Nicolas was a native of France and is the ancestor of the Lacour's of Pointe Coupee and Avoyelles. He came to America in 1720 was married and living in Natchez in 1726. Jacques Vitrac was native of Bordeaux, France, and was the son of Louis Vitrac and Marguerite Garnier of France. (summary by Mack Daigrepont) Note III: Jean Jacques Daigrepont and Eugenie Vitrac had but one child of record, a son, named Pierre. Pierre Daigrepont was born in Avoyelles in 1819. Shortly thereafter, his father died, leaving his widow, Eugenie, to manage their property near Hessmer, Louisiana. Eugenie Daigrepont, the 31 year old widow of Jean Jacques Daigrepont remarried to Ebenezer G. Paxton in 1822 at Avoyelles. Paxton was a Justice of the Peace in Avoyelles and performed many marriages in the parish from 1821 well into the 1840's. According to the records, Pierre was seventeen years old and his bride, sixteen. Azelie Ducote was also a decendent of prominent residents of Pointe Coupee Parish. Her parents were Jean Pierre Ducote and Elize Laborde. Jean Pierre Ducote was born at Pointe Coupee on August 24, 1783. His parents were Pierre Ducote II and Henriette Rabalais of Pointe Coupee. Pierre and Henriette were married at Pointe Coupee in 1773. Pierre Ducote II parents were Pierre Ducote I and Madelena (Magdelena) Cabe. Henriette Rabalais parents were Joseph Rabalais I and Anne Barbe Boftz Elise Laborde was the daughter of Dr. Pierre Laborde and Modeste Lacour (aunt of Eugenie Vitrac). Pierre Laborde was a native of Fartachey, Diocese of Aix, France. He was a surgeon in service to the King of France and served at both Pointe Coupee and Avoyelles Posts. Pierre Laborde and Modeste Lacour were married on September 30, 1783. Note II: Daigrepont 'Generation No. 2' is the same as Laborde I 'Generation No. 5'. My grandfather Elize Daigrepont and my grandmother Sidonia Dubroc have one set of the same great great grandparents, who were Pierre Laborde I and Modeste LaCour. Generation No. 3Notes for Pierre LaBorde I: Dr. Pierre LaBorde I., M.D., was the "Master Naval Surgeon" at Point Coupee Post (Located at the site of New Roads, LA). He may have lived at Opelousas before coming to Avoyelles. Besides his duties as Coroner, he had farming interests as well as stock raising in the area. He was a native of Tartas, France and was the youngest of six children. He was also the first doctor to come to Avoyelles Parish. He moved his family to Avoyelles Parish before 1789. In a book, Elize wrote the names and birth dates of seven children. The dates of the seven children match the church records. Elize's record of his children's birth dates. But in the Plaucheville cemetary is buried a child, whose name is Amy Ducrepont. On her tombstone it says Elize Daigrepont and Sidonia Dubroc are her mother and father.
