Philosophy of the Martial Arts
|
I have studied the Martial Arts off and on for some time now ,about 25 years. It is a great way of finding out who you really are. Most people think of the Martial Arts as a way of learning how to fight but that is not the total truth. The Martial Arts were started by Chinese monks hundred's of years ago to fight off the ruling Emperors or Warlords forces.Monks were killed by the thousands and their Monesteries were burned down to the ground. At that time no one was allowed to carry a sword or weapon for self-defence except for the Samauri, the Emperor's or Warlords armies.Basically the same as today. The Martial arts were taught to the monks as a way of them defending themselves and they incorperated their beliefs into the Art.You learn the Arts not to learn how to inflict damage but to learn about the dicipline of the soul, the balance of the mind, body and spirit. How to face life and how to face Death as a friend when it comes and it comes to EVERYONE!!!!.There is a saying that is part of the Bushido Code of Honor. #1.Before you kill,Paralize. #2.Before you paralize,Crush. #3Before you crush,Break. #4.Before you break, Sprain. #5.Before you sprain,Hit. #6.Before you hit,WALK AWAY!!!! I also like the way that the physical realm and the spiritual realm compliament each other. They work in harmony and balance with each other. There is much that the West can Learn from the East espically if we work in harmony knowing the outcome will be worth it to us and our children.

Quotes About Life!!!
|
O.K. Where do you want to go from here? Here a few saying's and observations I have heard, experienced or seen in my lifetime. Maybe you can relate to them on a personal level. 1.Love gives naught but of itself and takes not but from itself. Loves posesses not nor would it be posessed for love is sufficient unto love. When you love you should not say that God is in my heart but that I am in the heart of God.And do not think that you can direct the course of love, for love,if it finds you worthy, directs your course.2.Life: I'de rather be a bird than a turtle at any cost. 3.Beauty: Beauty is that which attracts your soul, and that which loves to give and not recieve. Beauty is not in the face but a light in the heart. 4.Zen: Zen is the art of nothingness, pure emptiness. 5.Reflections: The moon, how wonderful this autumn night. If only we could be like the moon, and see our reflection in the water. Maybe we wouldn't do some of the things we do. 6.Life: The only truth that I hold to life is constant change. Life is full of up's and down's as in a continous circle. First you are up and then a change takes place, then you are down, and then again a change takes place and you are up again and so on, the cycle continues. One thing I have realised is that all my material posessions are worth nothing. They come and they go. You own then for a while and then somehow along the way you lose them and you cant't remember where you lost them at. And does it really matter because in the end you realise that they were only an illusion. The things that I treasure the most are found in nature. The bright moon at night with it's quiet, The sun which nourishes all things, the sound of a babbeling brook on a clear spring night, the flowers in a field, the birds that sing sweet songs to me in the morning, and most of all, the Supreme Being for creating all of this for us. But isn't it a pity that most people never even notice these things. 7.People: Most people are like the catterpillar before the transformation into the butterfly. 8.Reality: Only with the heart can you precieve things clearly. For the most important things in life are invisable to the naked eye. 9.No matter where you go, there you are. 10.It's never to late to be what you might have been. 11.Fear: Fear is the mind killer. 12.None of us is going to get out of here alive. That is the only thing man is sure of. 13.Life: Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around, you could miss it.
Trouble: When you see a bullet coming at you get the hell out of the way.
The Concious Universe.
In the reality of the concious universe, time in the human reality passes us by in our lifetime in a millisecond. But in that millisecond many things can happen in our human reality. War's devestate entire cultures wiping them out of existance. Nations fall to their conquers, millions of life forms perish, some to becomeextinct. People hate because they do not comprehend another's lifestyle, color, sexual preference, or belief system. Humans pollute the land and oceans for monitary gain only to spend it on trivial materialistic toys. Humans kill other's because of their religious beliefs. Humans build technology that should be used for the good of the human race but it is used for purposes of war. Humans kill humans only because they want to. Crime is rampent, Governments are corrupt and people are dying needlessly. These are the negatives qualities of the human race.
On the positive side ,men have made for themselves, in themselves, things that balance out the human race. There are poet's that speak to the soul of the human race. There are the Healers who care for the sick and dying. There are the lovers who withstand all obsticles that are in their way. There are the scientists that look for the truth no matter what they want to believe. There are the protectors that do the best they can under their circumstances. There are the painters that mix color, light and shadows to make a canvas come to life. There are the photographers that freeze and record events in time to tell the real truth. There are the philosophers who ponder the meaning of the human spirit. There are those humans that direct their children in the hope that one day these children will not know war and hatred. There are the musicians that put together sound waves to make songs that humans delight in and dance to either physically or with their heart. There are the teachers that pass on knowledge generation to generation. It is amazing what can happen in a millisecond of the universal flow.
That which is,is. That which is not has yet to be experienced.
